Accepting Crypto Payments from US Customers

American customers pay readily in USDC and USDT. What to accept and what to know about Ethereum network fees.

Accepting Crypto Payments from US Customers

American customers pay in crypto without much hesitation, especially when a foreign merchant's card form adds extra steps or triggers a currency conversion. USDC and USDT are well known to a US audience. Bitcoin is common for larger transfers.

Why US customers pay with crypto

US Visa and Mastercard are technically accepted broadly, but a share of customers would rather not hand their card details to a foreign seller. A significant portion of the younger American audience holds a crypto wallet. They pay with USDC, USDT on Ethereum, or sometimes Solana.

What to accept

USDC is popular with American users as a regulated stablecoin. USDT is accepted just as widely. For larger amounts, BTC or ETH. If you accept several coins, a payment intent gives the customer the choice: they see a list of available networks and coins and pick what they have.

Ethereum fees are higher than TRC20

Network fees on Ethereum run in dollars, not cents, depending on network load. For smaller payments, that gap is noticeable. Either state this on the payment page or offer Solana or BNB Chain as an alternative for customers who have options.

Which businesses this fits

Digital products, SaaS, online services, education. Wherever an American customer has wanted to pay for a while but the card form keeps rejecting them.

Accept payments from US customers through SwapSS Pay at swapss.lol/for-business.
