How to Accept Your First Crypto Payment: Step by Step

A step-by-step walkthrough of accepting your first crypto payment on a website or in a messenger: what to connect, what to show the customer, and what to expect.

How to Accept Your First Crypto Payment: Step by Step

Accepting your first crypto payment takes an evening. You need a payment service, one coin, and a clear idea of what you will show the customer. Here is the process.

Step 1. Pick a coin and network

Start with USDT on TRC20: stable price, tiny fees, payment settles in a minute or two. You can add other coins later if customers ask.

Step 2. Connect a payment service

Register, add your site or channel, get an API key or a ready-made widget. A good service creates a separate address for each order, so you can see immediately which payment belongs to which order without any manual checking.

Step 3. Add the checkout to your site or bot

For a website: integrate via API or use a ready WooCommerce plugin if that is your platform. For a Telegram channel or bot: create a payment link and send it to the customer. You do not need a website at all.

Step 4. Check what the customer sees

The payment page needs to show, side by side: the amount, the network, the address, a QR code, and a countdown timer. The network must be visible next to the address. That single detail removes a large share of payment mistakes before they happen.

Step 5. Do a test payment yourself

Crypto payments cannot be undone, so before going live, walk through the entire customer journey yourself. Open the payment page, send a real amount, wait for confirmation, and make sure the balance updates.

After that

The money arrives on your balance. Withdraw whenever you like to any address you control. Questions: @swappsy on Telegram.
